一、Teaching Material
This unit is about making the news.It is apparent that our life is exposed to the news which inform us much. One can get the news through television, newspapers, magazines, network and so on. Getting the news is a very simple thing, but making the news is no easy task. After the study of this unit, one can learn what qualities should the staff working for a newspaper should have and how an news interview process, etc.. The language skills and language knowledge of this unit focuse on the central topic “news”.
The content of this class is divided into three parts:
lThe warming up part introduces some jobs and their responsibility through discussion to make students have an fundermental knowledge of making the news.
lThe pre-reading part introduces the news workers’ basic qualities in the form of questionnaire.
lThe reading part is a dialogue between Zhou Yang, a fresher, and his new boss, Hu Xin (an experienced worker). It leads students to have a better understanding of the qualities required, the basic program of an interview, the points needing attention and so on.
According to the new standard curriculum and syllabus, after studying the teaching material and analyzing the rule of children’s growing of mind, I think the teaching aims are the follwings:
1. Knowledge objects and ability objects
a) To help the students understand the content of the lesson.
b) To get the students to know more about the newspaper business, especially the reporters.
c) To improve the students’ reading (especially their skimming and scanning ability), thinking and speaking ability.
d) To inform the students of how to conduct an interview.
e) To train the students’ ability of cooperation.
f) To help them form the habit of thinking independently and critically.
2. Emotion or moral objects:
a) Through the process of input and output, increacing their interest and helping them set up self-confidence.
b) Irritating their thinking about what kind of career they prefer.
c) letting them realize that behind success are tears and sweats.
The important points and the difficult points:

a)have a rough knowledge of the needed qualities, the prpgram of interviewing, the matters needing attention and so on.

a)enable the students to conclude the qualities needed by a journalist
二、Teaching methods
A good teaching method requires that the teacher should have the leading effects. According to the analysis of the teaching material and the teaching aims, I will use “Communicative” Approach and “ Task-based” language teaching. According to the modern social communication teaching theories(现代社会交际教学理论),I adopt the TSA method (情景教学) and TBLT method (语言任务教学) in my teaching. At the same time, I’ll make use of the modern electricity teaching equipments and blackboard. They are used to show the students some pictures, some audio files, some visual files, some topics or reading tasks. This can develop the students’ creativity in learning English.
I apply these methods into my teaching, because it, to a large extent, limits Teacher Talking Time and increases Student Talking Time.

Step 2 Pre-reading
Activity 1 an interview
Supposing you are the interviewer and your partners are the interviewers applying for the job of a reporter. Who will you hire according to their descriptions Why
Activity 2 the first day to work
You are hired. And its your first day to work, imagine what the first day would like to be and what you will talk with your colleagues.
Step 3 Reading
Task1 Look, guess and speak
Look at the picture printed besides the text and say something.
Task 2 Listening
Listen to the tape once without reading the material and try to find out what they are talking about. After that scan the text to check the answers.
